Springtime –
Once of the year
The grip of
Winter’s
Slackening.
One
Morning bright
The sun
Bursts
Into song.
The Winter’s
Gone!
Awaken
All you
Slumberers!
Rejoice!
O World
That Spring
Has
Come again!
A fragrance
Wrapped
in Most
Enchanted
Blooms
Will soon
Disperse
Across
Our
Throbbing land.
Drift past
Our windows
From
The Distant
Hedgerows!
O gentle
Cherry tree
Kiss now
The Azure
‘Morn!
And brick red
Chimneys
No more
This year
Need work.
Casting their
Shadows
O’er
Sleepy
Rooftops.
Hide not
The Warmth
And Sunshine
From
Our Eyes.
( Springtime . . . - promises)
