Show Commentaries

Charles' Rockmania Show

I play Classic and Modern rock from almost any genre, including Country, Southern Rock, Punk, Metal, Heavy Metal, Alternative, New Wave and Rock 'N 'Roll and much more besides and I try to play the really very best rock tracks I can find each week.

I am trying to play different tracks each week (without repeating any tracks), by almost any band/artist out there, though not surprisingly, tracks from some of the best/better known rock outfits do get played more regularly.

I also play hits by one-hit wonders and also by some much less well known bands and by local bands.

Rock music is a huge field, with many hundreds of successful rock bands and rock artists. Some of these feature some very prominent rock musicians. Tracks played date from one or two in the 1940s through to the present, though a majority of best rock tracks date from the 60s and 70s. Rock and Roll lasted through the mid to later 1950s and early 1960s.

But all is not lost, and there are some very good, indeed excellent rock bands and rock artists at the present time, and though more limited in scope, some very good rock songs were produced in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The future looks immensely promising!

I've an avid and life-long interest in rock music, and to my great delight I regularly find and listen to a huge amount of rock music, much of which i haven't heard before, and I've discovered no end of great rock bands and rock artists i hadn't heard before. Some less well known or very less well known bands are the equal if not better than many very successful rock bands, and one can often only speculate why one band was sucessful while another wasn't.

I've found some really great rock bands and rock artists in 2011 and 2012, who are recent or very recent bands, and most excellent to boot! Some of these I am sure have a very great future and will add immensely to rock music over coming years!

Some of the very best I've found recently include John Mayer, Grand Illusion, Perfect Stranger (An American Country now turned Southern Rock band), Steve Azar, Kenny Butterill and Lionville to name just a few.

There is now (2014) more great new rock music released each month than is possible for one person to keep up with. It may be that alternative music is now the mainstream in the USA, but that said a huge amount of straight rock music is released, stateside and world-wide. Not only this, but much of it seems to have forgotten the dip in the 90s and 2000s and rock music now is forging ahead very full-steam!!!!

it's a real privilege to present tracks by such talented musicians and bands in my own rock radio show!
